Chief Engineer, Sr. Director Autonomy, Apple — 2018-2021
- Led all of autonomy for Apple.
- Drove the improvements to create 1000x better performance of the software/hardware systems ending in a demo to the Apple EC approving the product.
- Reduced software feedback and results from 2 weeks down to 24 hours by creating testing infrastructure, tooling, and automation improvements
- Directly managed all systems engineering, regulatory, operations, data science, simulation teams. Created the full product OK2Ship case.
Chief Engineer, Head of Systems Eng, Google/Waymo — 2014-2018
- Managed a team of over 600 employees and contractors spanning hardware, software, operations, quality, analytics.
- Created the first of kind plan on how to release hardware and software to conduct full driverless operations on public roads.
- Executed the plan for first fully autonomous drive in the world in Austin, TX (2017) and first full scale driverless deployment in Phoenix, AZ (2018).
- Scaled and streamlined operations to release fully driverless software from 4 months to 3 weeks.
Co-Founder, Director Engineering, Translucent Medical — 2013-2014
- Designed and built a robot to replace x-ray for vascular surgery. Tested in cadaver and clinical trials.
- Sold first units into Houston Medical vascular unit.
- Sold IP to Aurus Medical where it is still in use for eye surgeries, helping surgeons “see” into the patient’s eye without x-ray.
Chief Engineer, Hansen Medical — 2010-2013
- Led the design and engineering of the second version vascular heart surgery robot used in thousands of Arterial Fibrillation Heart surgeries across the world.
- Drove costs down by 2x, and increased usability in all key metrics.

Chief Mechanical Systems Engineer, NASA JPL — 1999-2012
- Ran $4M test program for Spirit and Opportunity Mars Rovers verifying the entire entry decent and landing systems. Resulted in successful landing of both rovers on Mars.
- Chief engineer of $12M mobility system for Mars Curiosity Rover which was a first of its kind landing system on Mars in addition to being the drive system to get the rover driving on Mars.
